Extreme Home, Freecycle and more

Yesterday we took Lilly to the doctor for her to get her 5th Synagis shot.  This is to help prevent RSV.  It's only given to kids that qualify for some medical reason because it is soooo expensive.  Lilly qualified with our insurance, but we still have to pay 20% of each shot!  Thankfully next month is the last shot for this year and our doctor didn't have any reason to think she would need it next winter!  Praise the Lord!

After the doctor I decided to try and find the location of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition location in Montgomery.  If I had planned ahead it would have been easier, but this was an adventure. :)  I only knew the subdivision name and a vague idea of where that was.  I ended up completely wrong and drove about 20 minutes before realizing that.  I then decided to call my friends at the TV station.  They told me the name of the street so then I called Wes to pull that up on mapquest (the one time I don't have my Mgm map with  me or my own GPS :)  I then had to drive about 20 minutes to that side of town.

Upon finding the street (another 15 minutes of circling an unfamiliar neighborhood) I saw it was all blocked off.  The security guys then told me to drive over to the Coke bottling plant (just down on the main highway) and park there and ride the shuttle bus over.  (this was where I should have gotten all the details from their website before doing this)  We got on the shuttle bus, Taylor, Lilly and I (we took along our stroller too)  This was Taylor's favorite part.  He even buckled up on the bus without being asked.

Once we finally arrived (just over an hour from the time we left the doctor's office) we saw that the walls on the house were just going up.  It was amazing how fast things were going with hundreds of volunteers.  I saw a couple of friends one was a volunteer and the other from the TV station there for the news.  I talked to them awhile and just when I was ready to get back Ty Pennington came out.  He was across the street near the house.  I tried to get a picture, but I didn't have my regular camera just the cell phone.  I don't think you can tell he's even in it because I couldn't zoom and now I have no idea how to get it off of my phone.

It was a fun adventure.  Can't wait to see the show whenever it airs.  You can get all the info you need to go there at the Aronov Homes site.

Now on to Freecycle.  I joined this Yahoo group about the time Lilly was born.  It's been  interesting to see how it works.  Basically if you have something to give away you post it and others will reply if they want it.  You can also put out requests if you need something and if someone has it and wants to give it to you they can.  It's all about keeping perfectly good things out of the landfills.  Well I've given away a few things and actually got a box of these quick steam bags to sterilize breast milk pump supplies.  Not something I would have bought (never even heard of them before it was posted).  Sometimes I have to laugh at the posts and yesterday there were some classics.

"I am looking for a chello that is in o.k or good shape and condition.
It is for my mothers birthday. It has always been her dream. She used to play."

Sorry she didn't explain how to spell cello to her child.  Here was an offer...

"It is a large white and blue speckled goose lamp. If you are
interested I can send pictures tonight."
I sure wish I had asked for pictures of that!

No for the more...I wish that Taylor could really cut the grass. Right now he has on my Ipod shuffle and is pushing his toy lawnmower in straight lines (just like Daddy) across the back yard. He could save Daddy one of his household chores. By the way that toy lawnmower was one of the best $2 I ever spent at a consignment sale 2 years ago!

We passed the staging area for extreme makeover on our way to see my cousin play basketball in Selma on Saturday. It was so exciting to see the "move that Bus", RV in the parking lot of Hodges warehouse. I did free cycle for awhile too, at least until the moderator got really snippy a couple of times because my post were not up to her standards. It is a neat resource though!
Have you ever noticed the odd letter combinations of the verification word? Today's is "inetwe". Wouldn't it be fun to come up with a meaning or use for the word? I think this one is southern redneck for describing a photo you are showing to someone.."Inetwe were digging for sea shells". Ha!
