December Heart Update

Lilly had her appointment with the pediatric cardiologist today.  We have really gotten to know that place now. :)  Taylor, Wes and I all went for this one.  Everything went pretty smoothly.  Lilly was sound asleep when they called us back so we easily got blood pressure readings.  That has been a pain in the past.  Apparently it's not easy to get the machine and baby to cooperate.

She woke up when we had to weigh her.  10 pounds 6 oz and 23.5 inches long.  She's getting taller faster than wider.  I suppose that's a good thing.  Maybe she'll be a tall model instead of a short pudgy person (like her mom. :)  She was all smiles during her EKG however her delightful kicking was a distraction to that machine so it took some time.  Meanwhile Taylor was entertained by Dad's iPhone and cartoons (TV everywhere!)

During her echocardiogram Lilly was pretty still.  They have the room set up for cartoons to be on so the patient can sit back and relax.  Since Taylor was there the doctor turned on a tape of the Backyardigans and both kids were mesmerized.  Lilly's eyes were on the TV instead of turning her head back to see the lights on the ultrasound machine.  (This had been a problem in the past)  There is also a jar of suckers here and Taylor ever so slyly says "I just can't wait to get a sucker."  Like he was the poor patient!

So the results...Lilly's blood pressure is way down and more evened out.  They check in her arm and leg to make sure blood is flowing all the way around.  So now we are going to wean her off of her blood pressure medicine.  She should be completely off of it by the week after New Year's and we'll go back to have that checked.

Basically we were told that her condition could be continuously up and down.  Right now things are looking great.  But next month who knows.  A lot depends on her growth, scar tissue, and what nots that I didn't understand.  (I knew there had to be a reason you take biology in high school...sorry I was more interested in Channel 1 News we got to watch the first 10 minutes of that period.)   The doctor said sometimes you do have to go back for more procedures like the heart balloon but never know when...3 months, 1 year or 10 years.  I am praying for never again that she will be healed completely.

Wow what an adventurous first 3 months of Lilly's life.  We thought Taylor was a mess...here's hoping we don't get any more drama out of Lilly. :)

Praise God for the good report (and on occasion, TV!). I continue to pray for complete healing and that she will come off her meds with no additional issues. Merry Christmas to you all and I hope you enjoy your sweet baby's first!

Whoo-Hoo! Merry Christmas!

And you thought TV addiction was a bad thing!

Praise God for the good report! We will pray for complete healing, too.

Will we see all/any of you this weekend?

If not, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
