Christmas Overload

It's the time of year that I love and yet get very overwhelmed with at the same time.  We have so many family events and travels across the state that I am worn out just thinking about it.  I do love that Taylor is at the age where all this Christmas "magic" is really cute.  He sat on Santa's lap the other day for the first "successful" time the other night.  We had a family get together at the Bass Pro Store.  I didn't know they had a restaurant too.  After we ate we went to the store's Santa wonderland and Taylor saw little trains and shot laser beam guns at targets.  I think he asked Santa for a boat.  :)

The next day we went as a family to the mall.  I never go to the mall.  This was my third trip in a month and maybe the fifth time all year.  Well Taylor was so excited to see the train there.  We let him ride that then of course he "just really wanted to ride the horses" (aka the carousel).  I tried this only one ride each mall visit thing, but all I heard was "I wanna".  So we gave in and let him ride.  He loved it!  That's why I love this age.  Taylor still appreciates the small stuff.  He was actually more interested in all the rides than asking for any toys we might have seen in the stores.  (except for that riding toy he "had" to sit in at Sears).

The next day we decided to go see the Zoo Lights.  It was nice and warm and we have a membership so we didn't have to pay to get in.  Taylor then "treated" us to a train ride and his daddy to a camel ride.  Before we left the house I asked Taylor what was at the zoo.  First he said animals (duh) then he said as his eyes lit up "the train!"  Yes I said and if you want to ride the train what do you need?  He thought a second and said..."we'll need money.  Let's go get my wallet."  He grabbed my hand and took me to the location of the wallet.  (I had to get it off the high shelf)  So he paid for everything extra we did at the zoo.  (That's why grandparents give money right? :)

Now on the fourth day we had a Christmas get together with my family where Taylor and Lilly were given lots of good gifts.  Taylor had so much fun with his new toys and playing with all of his cousins.  It was a rather crazy time.  On the drive home he passed out of course.  Now we have a bit of a break before more holiday craziness.  Who knew there were really 12 Days of Christmas. ;)

Loved the picture of Taylor and Santa. Think Santa might leave one of those for Mimi? Hope you are not tired of Christmas before you ever even get to ours!

I like that you are training your children that things cost money and that they should plan and save for those "extras" that come up. I am sure that he was very proud to treat you all to the train and I bet he enjoyed it even more because he paid for it! Enjoy the Holiday and don't get too overwhelmed!
