Savings

Well since I decided to stay at home with Taylor I have tried my best to save money. Since I don't usually "make" any money I sometimes felt weird spending it. I started cutting coupons and watching sales papers. At first I admit I think I spent more just because I had a coupon for it. I have since figured this out and don't do so badly at the store now. I am fairly proud of the fact that I have only a handful of times bought diapers at full price. I just stock up on them and buy ahead when they are on sale and I have a coupon.

I like pampers diapers (the CVS brand is the closest generic I found to pampers feel) I've saved those little "gifts to grow" labels to enter codes online and earn rewards. At first it was crazy because you would have all these points to get a toy, but you had to pay like $10 for shipping. I only started using my points when they offered Shutterfly.com items like free photo books and prints. You have to pay them shipping anyway so I figured that was worth it. But I just read that they are extending the program and improving it so if you're still buying diapers check it out.

I have done some random things to "make" some money like sell on ebay or recycle cans (that doesn't make much but at least it helps the environment. :) I have done some mystery shopping and that can be fun depending on where you are sent to shop. One thing my mom and I just talked about was selling some old gold jewelry. We haven't done it yet, but after reading my cousin Jana's blog about it I may start looking for some gold!

Well those are my money saving tips. Wish I was one of those frugal living millionaires, but I'm just frugal to make ends meet. If you have any tips leave a comment. I'd love to hear some more ideas. Got any on how we can save on gas? :(

Amanda -
Check out the budget board on www.disboards.com - they have a weekly CVS thread about the best deals. It gets too complicated for my brain at times, but there are some that really know how to get the best bang for your buck!

I would also check to see if there are any local boards like the one I use here for grocery shopping. I, too, did the grocery game for awhile but I found that the boards gave me better information!

As far as diapers, I have found that buying them at the grocery store when they are on sale ($9.99 for the super mega size - we use Huggies) and using coupons works out better than most warehouse clubs. The plus for the grocery stores is that you can get a raincheck when they are out and go back later (as I will do tomorrow for 4 packs, and with my 4 coupons!).

Gotta love saving money!
