We have had a busy weekend. I'm just now catching up with myself. We spent Friday at the Thomas the Train event in Calera. Taylor had a great time riding the big train and doing all the little activities there. We had tickets for a great time. We got in there right in between all the big rain storms. It was wet, but sunny and pleasant for an outdoor event.
Taylor prepared for the trip by putting together his Thomas train set. It really entertained Lilly. She loved watching Thomas drive around the track. We had a little photo shoot with them laying in the floor together. Taylor even took some pictures of the girls.
Sunday after church we had a birthday lunch for Mimi (aka Faith Ann). Stephanie, Jay and Abbey Kate came too. Papa Allen is out of town so he missed all the fun. Taylor and Abbey Kate had a great time playing together. Lilly was ready to get in on the play action too I think.
Lilly totally knows that when we sit at a table we are getting something good. She goes in her highchair and watches us a minute then starts to grunt and whine. I have to sometimes feed her in between bites of my own food or give her something to knaw on. She likes vanilla wafers for that. I've tried cheerios, but she can't pick them up and get them in her mouth by herself yet. We had to do the same thing for Taylor at this age. He was eating cheerios by himself though by 7 months. She's just not quite there yet.
Now about sleep. Lilly has gone from sleeping well to not so well. She gets up at least one time a night sometimes two. I think maybe it's a growth spurt and she needs the extra food. Then again I think it's that she can't get herself back to sleep on her own. Friday night between both kids I was up every hour. That was not fun. We tried a schedule today so that hopefully we'd get all of our naps back (Taylor is starting to outgrow them :( and sleep all night again. Please pray for my sanity and sleep efforts!
I had a ton of pictures to share so I made a little slide show. You can see all of our fun there.

Nicholas loves Thomas. Was it worth it to go? They have another one this weekend too I just found out about.
Yes. I think it was worth it. We went 2 years ago when he was 18 months old and he had fun then. This time he really appreciated it more. There are some fun things to do besides ride the train. You could actually go for free and not ride the big train. However I imagine at Nicholas' age he would want to ride the train. There is a little train like they have at the zoo you can ride too for like $5 or less. We didn't ride it this time, but did last time.
What fun! Oh don't let Taylor give up naps yet! I don't know where you plan on sending him to school, but most kindergarten classes nap after lunch until December of that school year. Tell him it is in the "rule book"--that always worked for mine! have a blessed day!
Ok, you paid me back from the "shoutout" I gave you on Facebook :) p.s. those are absolutely some of the most precious children I have ever seen!!
Ooooh, Parker is sooo jealous that Taylor got to meet Sir Topham Hat! :) Looks like you had fun...thank you for hosting dinner for mom's birthday! Wish we could have been there.
We are thinking of going to the Thomas Day somewhere up here. I let it slip away when Andrew was little, but I think that both of them will enjoy it now.
Andrew was 3 when he gave up naps. He would still nap occasionally, but it was rare.
I love all of the pictures. I still see Mawmaw in Lilly!
