Going Home

I just finished up a wonderful Bible study on the Old Testament Tabernacle. It was amazing! I never realized that EVERYTHING in the Tabernacle pointed directly at Jesus. I was also amazed at how much God truly wants to dwell with us. First in the Garden of Eden, then in the wilderness Tabernacle and Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem. He dwelt on Earth in the form of Jesus and now His spirit is in all over the planet dwelling in each believer!

At the end of the study we looked at how each place that God has dwelt among man resembled His Heavenly home. One thing that amazed me about His home was all the plants there. The Garden had plants, the Tabernacle had plants formed out of gold on the lamp stand, the Temple had carvings of plant life. Even the human temples of the Holy Spirit produce fruits from that spirit.

It is so wonderful to dwell with God. Each part of this study made me want to be in His presence more fully. Today I was reminded of how our real home is with Him. He made us with the purpose of dwelling with Him. NOTHING compares to that.

When my grandmother was dying she spent about a week in the hospital. We thought she was rallying at one point and might get to go home. She would say over and over she just wanted to go home. Something in me knew that she didn't just mean her little apartment but something much more comforting. Mawmaw never met my Lilly. I was just 4 months pregnant then. Lilly is 2 now and the funny thing is she is always saying "I want to go home." The funny part is that she will say it standing in our kitchen.

I wonder if there's something in her that knows this isn't her true home? Oh to have faith like a child!

I love the "I want to go home" story. One of my favorite songs is "Homesick". What a fantastic Bible study as well and I will have to check into it. Hope you have a blessed week.

I believe that children can see what Jesus sees! May she never lose the ability to see that this world is not her home! Blessings on you today!
