Taylor Turns 4!

Last weekend was an exciting one at our house.  Taylor had his 4th birthday party.  It was a small affair in the backyard this year.  I even made the cake myself!  I'm definitely not an Ace of Cakes!  However it turned out edible and Taylor said it was a great birthday cake.  Guess that's all that matters.

We had an Imagination Movers theme.  It got real creative since you can't just go buy that theme of plates and napkins yet.  I hand made the invitations with construction paper and stickers then mailed them in paper bags covered in stickers.

We had lots of paper bags leftover so we decided to decorate those for the party favors.  Taylor had fun painting that day.  I helped with some of the designs as you can see.

To keep with the Imagination Mover theme we had 'mover' name tags and played fun games like pin the tail on the 'burrow'.  That's mover Scott's favorite animal if  you didn't know.  We also played freeze dance with Imagination Mover songs playing.  Taylor did some kind of crazy move then face planted into the concrete.  Thankfully his nose wasn't broken and the party continued.

Here's the home made cake.  I tried using a can of icing that had tips to do the writing.  It was very unpredictable and no matter how lightly or hard I pushed icing came squirting out or nothing came out.  So I did as few words as possible.  The colors are M&M's.  I got most of my party ideas from Parents Magazine.  The napkins and matching balloon were found at Dollar Tree.  They have some fun things every so often.  The colors matched perfectly with our theme.

Lilly enjoyed some cake too.  She didn't want to eat her real lunch later.  I don't blame her.
After cake we opened presents.  I thought it was interesting that Taylor had a melt down at the beginning of the party because people were playing with his toys.  Then when he got new ones he was so grateful even giving hugs and then he didn't have a problem at all sharing.

The biggest gift that day was a new bike from mom and dad.  We hid it in the storage room and waited to get it out after the guests had left.  Mainly because it was much bigger than his old bike and there were little kids running around.  I didn't want anyone to get run over.  Plus there was a bit of worry that he'd not share and be ugly to his friends.  He was saying thank you for his bike for days afterward.

Granddaddy keeping it a secret.
The reveal.
A new big boy bike for Taylor!  Happy Birthday!
