What a Weekend

We just got back from a busy weekend at the beach!  Wes spoke at the Gulf Coast Getaway in Panama City this weekend.  This is an event for college students that we have now attended 10 or more times as students, college minister and now in the form of teaching a class on missions.  We realized we'd been there and done that when we met some Auburn students this weekend.  Wes had on an AU shirt and someone asked if he was an alum.  He said "yes Class of '99."  The current student then said "Oh your old."  ouch!

The weekend had some great singing and if you know Taylor he LOVES to sing.  He especially loves Wee Praise (children's church) and his Wee Praise heros were at Gulf Coast this year.  Mrs. Marla is the children's song leader and her husband spoke at GCG so she came.  Well when Taylor saw her and told me about it later you would have thought he just ran into Debbie Gibson (ok that did just show my age didn't it? :)  Taylor loves to act out Wee Praise at home and usually he acts as Mrs. Marla.

After being at GCG now Taylor has decided to act that out.  We were at the pediatrician's office today.  While waiting in the room Taylor was up on the steps to the exam table singing, preaching and praying.  It is really funny how close to detail he gets.  He starts by "sitting in the audience" then he comes up on stage to the podium.

The other part of Wee Praise at the beach this weekend was Sammy the puppet.  Well actually Sammy's voice, Mr. Jimmy, was at the beach so he had told Taylor that Sammy would be there.  Taylor looked all over for Sammy this weekend.  He was told at one point that Sammy had taken a walk on the beach so he stood on our balcony and called "Sammy".

Now you all know how Taylor loves his TV.  Well we are now sending our TV habits overseas.  Our friend Napoleon from Malawi is visiting us and he was amazed at how Taylor just sits and watches TV.  Taylor was watching a Disney movie (Tarzan) and I think Napoleon got into it too.  Napoleon decided that his kids needed "toys" like that.  So he gave me some money to pick out some movies for his kids that are 1 and 3.  :)  We got some Baby Faith and Boz videos.  These are some of our favorites that teach Bible stories and moral lessons.  If we are passing on this habit of watching TV I'd like to make it educational. ;)

I guess if y'all are old then we are ancient! (Well, at least Jeff is, anyway!)

I loved Debbie Gibson! I believe I was a junior or senior when she was popular. I know that I am ancient because my teenager reminds me of it on a regular basis.

I would love to be around Taylor for one day! I hope you are getting this stuff on camera--might be worth some money on America's Home Video!
