Lilly's Procedure

Here we are again at UAB. We are actually in the exact same room they put us in the last time. Kinda feels like home...well not really.

Lilly did well through her heart cath and is now back in the room. She's still groggy and will have a sore throat from the tube they put in during the cath. I can tell her grunts sound a bit different like she is hoarse. Her legs have places where they went in that are painful. As long as she isn't moving much she is resting comfortable.

They did a balloon to expand where scar tissue was closing off her aorta again. It's pretty common in the small babies because their aorta is so small any scar tissue closes in the opening. The doctor feels like her procedure went well, but she may have to come back in about a year. They couldn't put as much pressure on the balloon as they wanted and not tear her aorta, but they got it open enough to relieve her blood pressure for now.

I can't imagine coming back in a year. She'll be so much more aware of things then. I don't know why, but it suddenly dawned on me that I could pray for her to be completely healed. Why I didn't think of that before I don't know. I have prayed for her to get better, but just half hearted. I think I've just settled into this new way of life. Then it dawned on me that God can heal her if I asked. I mean he wants me to talk to Him more and I really feel he's using this experience with Lilly to get my attention. He did knock me to my knees literally (I have the scars to prove it) the day she was born. I haven't had much of a prayer life the past year and I think I forgot how to pray past a 3 year olds level.

Father God I boldly come before you now and ask that you heal Lilly. Take her heart in your hands and make it work perfectly. Put awe and wonder in the doctors as they ponder why she does so well. Help us to give you the glory for the healing you will give her. Mold her heart physically as well as spiritually. Let her be a woman after your own heart. Thank you for this gift you have already given us in Jesus name.

Amanda,
I am in agreement with your prayers for Lilly. Our God is the Great Healer and He has a special plan for Lilly. Depending upon Him completely brings glory to God; and that is what He wants from us.Just to look at her, I think of how how great our God is! She has the most beautiful smile!

Father God, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior that my dear sister's prayer be heard and that you heal Lily's heart. I thank you for the Doctors whom you work thru to heal and ask that you open their eyes to your glory through the Gunn Family. Finally, I thank you that you have promised never to leave or forsake them, no matter what happens here! Praise be to you my Father! Your will be done!
Amen.

Amanda, I love you will the love of Jesus my sister! Be strong in Him.
