Sandcastles, Salt Water and Strep Throat
A trip to the beach is always lots of fun. This was our first for 2008. We spent about 4 days with Wes' grandparents and other family in a condo just inside the Florida line. We were right next door to the Flora-Bama. woo hoo!
Taylor had so much fun in the sand, but wasn't excited about the water until the last day! He was just getting used to it when we had to leave. Good thing we have a pool so he can swim pretty much when he wants.
Poor Wes was just starting to feel better as we had to leave too. He had strep throat. We got there on Friday and he ended up at the local doc-in-a-box place on Saturday to get checked out. It was confirmed strep and we got him some medicine. He didn't miss anything though. He sat out on the beach in our handy tent so he wouldn't get sunburn.
Oh and I got stung by a jelly fish for the first time. I am usually very particular about swimming in the ocean anyway. I had been watching the fish and decided I could handle swimming with the minnows, but then while I pushed Taylor on a raft the jelly fish snuck up on me. I had a hard time going back in the water after that (and after I spotted the small or baby shark swimming about 5 feet from shore). The sting wasn't too bad and it was all better within an hour.
Now we are home and back in the swing of life. Wes leaves next week for Africa so this weekend we are working on house chores and buying supplies for his trip. Boy I'm missing the lazy days of the beach. :)
Oh we had to show off our version of Jordan -Hare Stadium in the sand. :) WAR EAGLE!

There should have been a Dr. Seuss "Oh, my!" at the end of that post title!
Jeff likes the stadium (Auburn stuff is the only thing that will drag him to a blog).
I hope Wes is much better now.
Will we see all of you next week?
