Well a very long and emotional week is finally over. My grandmother passed away last Saturday morning. The funeral was Monday so now I am home from a long weekend in Gadsden. Thank you to everyone praying for us. She was 93 and ready to go. The pain was great for her this week so I am glad she is pain free now.
I learned lots of interesting things about my grandmother this weekend. First I had no idea she was part of a flower club in the 1960's and won awards. I also didn't know she lied about her age to get a job when she was 15. She really liked working at Goodyear tire so years later when her first child was born she decided to keep working only my grandfather didn't want her to work. So he would go to work and she'd get the lady to watch my uncle and she'd sneak off to work after my grandfather left. Funny thing was they both worked at Goodyear. She got away with it for 2 weeks and then my uncle got sick and the call went to my grandfather first. He marched to Mawmaw's area of the factory and told her she had a sick baby at to get home. She told her manager as she saw him coming that she probably wouldn't be back. :)
She was pretty fiesty. I always heard she was the life of the party and now I guess I know why. I also found my favorite picture of her with Taylor. I think he was about 4 or 5 months old when it was taken.I learned lots of interesting things about my grandmother this weekend. My sympathy to your family. I'm glad she is not suffering any longer and you were able to learn some neat things about her. Hope you're doing good. Take care.
