I'd like to thank the Academy...

We watched the last couple of hours of the Academy Awards the other night. First time in years I had sat down long enough to do that. Wes usually doesn't care about those kind of award shows at all. He actually fell asleep an hour before it was over. I however used to LOVE all those award shows. In this the 80th year of the Oscars they played back all the winners in the past. I noticed that I had seen all of the best pictures and knew all the stars of the 1990's and even some of the really old movies. (I had a friend who was an old movie buff in high school, plus my dad watches all kinds of movies so I watched a lot too) These days however I have seen only a handful of movies all the way through. I know most of that has to do with having a 2 year old. Taylor is however starting to love movies and pay attention to them longer. He will watch almost all of Finding Nemo.

I once dreamed of being an Oscar winning director too. I was going to go to the awards in a beautiful yet tasteful and modest gown. I was going to Thank God and Jesus in my speech and change the world that way. Well that's not the way things turned out, but I'm rather glad to be in AL instead of LA. :) Later I decided I just wanted to produce the actual awards show and make it more spectacular. Funny how some would say that's the kind of thing Wes does all the time...make big productions. I may not be directing the Oscars, but I have gotten to help with lots of other fun shows.

So all my movie star dreams aside. Guess the closest to the red carpet I'll get is watching it on T.V., but I can enjoy movie nights anytime with my boys.
